View DetailsSpecification Guide
Outdoor lighting needs to suit the installation environment as well as the architecture. Entrances, terraces, gardens and pathways differ in exposure, fixing conditions and the direction of light they need.
Identify whether the fitting is sheltered, directly exposed to rain or installed near the coast. Materials, finish systems and protection requirements need to be reviewed for those conditions; an indoor design should not be assumed suitable outdoors.
Consider the intended illuminated area, viewing angles and nearby windows or seating. The fixture position and distribution should provide useful light while limiting unnecessary glare and spill.
Confirm the mounting surface, cable route, electrical supply and maintenance access. Ground-mounted and suspended fixtures need different fixing details, and those details should be coordinated with the landscape and electrical teams.
Send a site plan, mounting locations, exposure conditions, reference images, quantities and control requirements. Environmental protection and final electrical specifications are confirmed through a project-specific review.
Project Development
Provide a site plan, mounting positions and exposure conditions, including whether the fitting is sheltered. Materials, protection, fixing and maintenance access must be reviewed for that environment.
